ABOUT
WHO IS EMILY?
Emily Jacoby is an Arizona-based theatre practitioner with a rich background in acting, singing, and dancing. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Emily started theatre at an early age, acting in community theaters all across Maricopa County.
Emily’s theatre journey truly solidified during her time at Northern Arizona University, where she will earn her BS in Theatre with an emphasis in Performance this December. This is where she truly honed her passion for performance, but also discovered her fascination with casting. She found herself drawn to the way casting bridges storytelling and human connection. She believes that connection fuels creativity, and when actors feel seen, the stories truly come alive.
During her time at NAU, Emily has taken on a variety of artistic and leadership roles where she served on the Season Selection committee for her university, was an Educational Programming Intern, where she helped a local theatre bring theatre programs to schools with limited access to art education, and was a board member of Alpha Psi Omega, Beta Nu cast. In addition to performing in productions such as Buzz, Much Ado About Nothing, and the Voices in America reading series at NAU.
Emily has also had the life-changing experience of studying overseas in Siena, Italy, where she was immersed in a new language and culture. Here, she traveled extensively throughout Tuscany, where she undertook a deep study of Italian art history and the region's food and wine. She was able to gain new, diverse global understandings and communication in creative outlets, and overall, a new way of living theatre that expanded her worldview and deepened her artistic empathy.
Emily believes that theatre and casting are both fierce acts of connection. Her two passions are windows to understand humanity through shared stories. Whether performing on stage, analyzing scripts, or advocating for authentic representation, she approaches every project with passion, precision, and a chance for her to learn not only for the sake of her skills but also for her personal growth. Outside the stage, she can apply the organizational and analytical skills she developed through her business studies, as well as her minor coursework at NAU. This helps her integrate her business side into her creative work, blending her artistic passion with a strategic approach to thinking.
Looking forward, Emily aims to continue growing as an art practitioner and a storyteller through casting. She hopes to create inclusive, innovative spaces within the entertainment industry, where she believes she can advocate for casting with empathy and storytelling with purpose.
